Saying you’re innovative is one thing, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. In 2022, we developed the double drill head for simultaneous drill pipe and casing pipe installation. And there was a reason for that. Installing the pipes is an intensive process when casing is required, particularly when switching between casing and drill pipes. Conrad’s double drill head means manual handling and using the winch for installation and removal are now a thing of the past.
Operation convenience
The double drill head delivers huge efficiency gains as you can recoup both the time spent switching and time spent on separate drilling. It also eliminates the need for a second drill operator, which is no unnecessarily luxury these days when new colleagues are so hard to find. The double drill head delivers direct wage cost savings.
Conrad’s double drill head is available on the heavier machines from this product series, such as the Combi 300 and Combi 500: rigs that are used in tougher conditions where you regularly need to install casing pipes. These machines have the power to install both pipes simultaneously while driving the double drill head, casing and drill pipe in opposite directions.
